Peripheral Nerve Stimulation

Peripheral Nerve Stimulation Specialist in Tampa, FL

Treatment:

Peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) is an excellent treatment option for chronic or refractory neuropathic pain. Compared to spinal cord stimulation (SCS), it is more specific, as it easily targets small areas of neuropathic pain and does not affect the central nervous system. A good test is to see if a local anesthetic injection at the intended stimulation site relieves the pain.

Stimrouter PNS Device

A thin, threadlike lead is implanted below the skin, near the nerve, to deliver rapid electrical pulses to inhibit pain signals sent to the brain. The transmitter resembles a bandage and is worn on top of the skin, above the implanted lead. The patient can control the electrical pulses with a wireless remote device, adjusting the settings depending on their level of pain.
